KONERY: energy efficiency and the environment
In 2021, with hard work and company values as its cornerstones, the company doubled its turnover and became an industry leader in Murcia, Spain, at which point it embarked on a journey to open new headquarters in the city of Murcia’s impressive Plazarte building, winner of a Regional Prize for Architecture.
KONERY is committed to the environment, savings and energy efficiency and wished to use top-quality lights with LED technology in its offices. The company chose to work with Secom Iluminación to benefit from the lighting company’s manufacturing facilities located in Spain and quick response to project demands.
The lights in the Konery offices: an adapted and customised solution
One of the stand-out features of this project was the unique office ceilings onto which luminaires had to be fitted. They were not ordinary flat, suspended, modular or even Armstrong ceilings; these offices had an exposed waffle ceiling, which ruled out using downlights, recessed lights and even surface lights.
The solution that Secom came up with involved using 60×60 cm square panel luminaires that fitted perfectly into the coffering. The anchorage of choice was a series of cables of different lengths from which the lights could be suspended such that they were flush with the coffering. The effect was exactly the right kind of homogeneous illumination the client was looking for.
The same solution was used in several different rooms, such as workspaces, meeting rooms, a break room and even a gym. The variety of spaces meant that we had to use a top-quality solution that avoided glare and flickering at all costs. The luminaires had to employ only the very best LEDs to ensure a lengthy useful life, plus have an extensive optic. The aim was to limit maintenance work and guarantee superior luminous uniformity.
The Cubic LED was the perfect luminaire for the job. The cell-based design means that it emits a great deal of direct light, which improves overall efficiency. It also guarantees an UGR <17 thanks to the diffusor on the LED itself.
Other systems were used in other areas.
We used Boxter LEDs on tracks in rooms that are used for certain types of tasks and above some meeting tables. The luminaires were fitted onto an electrified track positioned along the join between waffle slabs. This very versatile solution means that the position of lights along the track can be adjusted at any time and the beams of light can be directed as needed. With these luminaires, it is possible to bring beams closer

The luminaires were fitted onto an electrified track positioned along the join between waffle slabs. This very versatile solution means that the position of lights along the track can be adjusted at any time and the beams of light can be directed as needed. With these luminaires, it is possible to bring beams closer together and increase the average illumination level. In larger areas, it is possible to fit more luminaires along the track to create a homogeneous light throughout the space.
Energy savings and energy efficiency at its best
Not surprisingly, this energy savings and energy efficiency client wanted to be sure that its lighting facilities were up to scratch. Not only do luminaires with LED technology illuminate spaces to perfection and create a wonderfully cosy ambience in offices, their energy efficiency levels also mean that companies can make huge savings.
For example, the square panels that were used in this project can help achieve 50% energy savings compared with fluorescent tube lights. The lights on tracks, meanwhile, can achieve up to 70% or even 90% energy savings when they are used to replace halogen lights.
Last of all, we must not forget the great service life of the luminaires that Secom fitted in this case. They can also help to bring down maintenance costs and improve the overall sustainability of installations.
Konery and Secom Iluminación are based in Spain and are committed to caring for the environment and boosting energy efficiency to make the world we live in a better, cleaner and more sustainable place. At Secom Iluminación, we are incredibly proud to have done our bit to help make the sustainability dream come true.
