Célere Nicet Patraix residential building
Célere Nicet Patraix is a private, new-build residential development consisting of 147 homes and a range of rather singular communal areas that feature heavily in the design. There are several areas designed for recreational use and sporting activities, in addition to a delightful swimming pool, a children’s play area, a study room, a gym, toilets and a social and fine dining area, among other elements. Furthermore, the location of this marvellous development is quite simply unbeatable: the Patraix neighbourhood near Ronda Sur, one of the artery roads running through Valencia .
This up-and-coming neighbourhood has a selection of recreation installations and services including sports facilities, supermarkets, schools and health centres.
The construction and promotion company behind the development was keen to source top-quality and reliable materials to match the stature of the construction. It chose to go with Secom Iluminación luminaires throughout, including in the incredibly important emergency illumination system.
Emergency lighting in residential buildings
Emergency lighting is a critical and essential element of public buildings and residences such as the Célere Nicet Patraix complex.
As mentioned, there are a number of different sections and areas to the development, all of which need to have suitable emergency lighting.
The company opted for the Subiti LED luminaire based on its versatility and energy efficiency characteristics.
The luminaires were supplied with an IP65 degree of tightness, making them suitable for use in the garage, areas open to the elements and equipment rooms where there could be high levels of humidity, dust and particles in suspension.
The recessed Subiti luminaire was installed in indoor areas where the characteristics of the space, aesthetics and type of ceiling were suitable. This luminaire is discreet and in keeping with the aesthetics of the communal areas, hallways and landings.
The same surface luminaire with an PI44 rating was used in indoor areas where the installation conditions were not so demanding or restrictive. These lights can be installed very easily without the need to make any holes or alterations to the ceiling. It was the perfect solution for all the critical areas where alterations to the build were not permitted or where the surfaces were made of incredibly durable materials that could not be cut or shaped. Recessed luminaires, which are installed in dips or holes in the ceiling, are not suitable for these areas.
Since emergency lights do not need to be switched on at all times and only function if there is a power cut, all these luminaires were non-permanent emergency lights.
Perfect results and compliance with regulations
In addition to complying with technical, aesthetic and energy efficiency characteristics, luminaires need to comply with illumination regulations. Failing to meet this requirement would be tantamount to a poorly-designed emergency lighting system that would serve no purpose whatsoever.
Consequently, in this case, the luminaires were installed at a height of two metres or more in the following places:
- Above electrical and lighting distribution boards and all other general protection equipment
- In corridors, along staircases, on landings and above exits
- In all places where evacuation routes change direction and where there are ramps or steps
- Outside, around the exit
- Next to hand-operated fire prevention and extinction equipment
The luminaires supplied by Secom Iluminación guaranteed compliance with regulations. As a Spanish manufacturer with over 30 years of experience in the industry that delivers goods in a timely manner, the products came with a quality assurance and energy efficiency guarantee. Indeed, we could say that Secom supplied the home owners at Célere Nicet Patraix with the reassurance that their health and safety will be protected in an emergency. Nonetheless, we sincerely hope that there is never reason to put this to the test.
